Thank you all for helping us in the event. Thank you Br Adi, Br Azhar, Br Sazaney, Br Kamal, Br Abu Hurairah,Br  Jaiz, Br Khairul, Br Syazwan and the rest of the team. May Allah bless you. Work smart with IT.

The new MB Perak

I have fond memories of the New MB Perak, Datuk Dr. Zambry Abdul Kadir, and Alumini of  IIUM and ADUN Pangkor. He was with us in IEEP 2007 in Pangkor. Being trained in IIUM and even had serve some time in ISA, i think he should be an excellent leader. He is a very joyful man, always sharp in his thought and action. During the IEEP, he had promised a piece of land to IIUM. Who knows, IIUM might have a branch campus in Perak or Pangkor in future.

Large Hadron Collider

The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is the world’s largest and highest-energy particle accelerator, intended to collide opposing beams of protons or lead ions, each moving at approximately 99.9999991% of the speed of light.

The Large Hadron Collider was built by the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) with the intention of testing various predictions of high-energy physics, including the existence of the hypothesised Higgs boson and of the large family of new particles predicted by supersymmetry. It lies in a tunnel 27 kilometres (17 mi) in circumference, as much as 175 metres (570 ft) beneath the Franco-Swiss border near Geneva, Switzerland. It is funded by and built in collaboration with over 10,000 scientists and engineers from over 100 countries as well as hundreds of universities and laboratories.

On 10 September 2008, the proton beams were successfully circulated in the main ring of the LHC for the first time. On 19 September 2008, the operations were halted due to a serious fault between two superconducting bending magnets.  Due to the resulting damage, the LHC will not be operational again until summer 2009.

Purpose

It is theorized that the collider will produce the elusive Higgs boson, the last unobserved particle among those predicted by the Standard Model. The verification of the existence of the Higgs boson would shed light on the mechanism of electroweak symmetry breaking, through which the particles of the Standard Model are thought to acquire their mass. In addition to the Higgs boson, new particles predicted by possible extensions of the Standard Model might be produced at the LHC. More generally, physicists hope that the LHC will enhance their ability to answer the following questions:

Of the possible discoveries the LHC might make, only the discovery of the Higgs particle is relatively uncontroversial, but even this is not considered a certainty. Stephen Hawking said in a BBC interview that “I think it will be much more exciting if we don’t find the Higgs. That will show something is wrong, and we need to think again. I have a bet of one hundred dollars that we won’t find the Higgs.” In the same interview Hawking mentions the possibility of finding superpartners and adds that “whatever the LHC finds, or fails to find, the results will tell us a lot about the structure of the universe.”

Apex university……IIUM?

Well, yesterday the Ministry of Higher Education announce that USM is chosen as the APEX university. Well, congratulation to USM. I still remember that we are also aiming to be one of the Apex university during Prof. Dato Dr Azmi time.

One of the reason why they chose USM was the willingness to change. Are we ready for changes? Wallahualam.

A sad day for CFS

Assalamualaikum

Sad to say that one of our students had left us on the night of 31st August 2008, the day that we celebrate the indepenence day. It is also at a time that we are going to embrace the holy month of Ramadan. I feel very sad because she died in a very tragic day, fell from third floor of our Annex Building. Well, the details of what happens only Allah knows. Yesterday i visited the site of the accident. I feel very sad, because she is our student, a potential Engineering student. I pray and make doa to Allah swt in this holy month so that He will forgive her, forgive us for not doing our part in preventing this from happening. The only reason why i am still in IIUM is because i still believe in the holy Vision and Mission of IIUM. So, in this holy month of ramadan, i hope everybody will ponder back on what have we done to uphold and integrate the wisdon of Islam in our student. For me the success of a university is what our graduates can accompolish when they graduates. Sometimes we forget that in the end in front Allah swt we will be asked what have we done in this world? Do we have the answer? Wallahualam.

IIUM e-mail for CFS students

I like to congratulate ITD for extending the IIUM email to CFS students. I like to thank Br Adi, Br Azhar, Br Sazaney, Sr Rohaida, Sr Mustamirah and the rest of the team to make it possible. Last night i have tested it with my class. All the students were very excited. I planned to have it officially launch with wirelss project in Nilai. I am targeting to have it launch after raya. For Nilai, the wirelss project is ready. We are still waiting for PJ. We in CFS really appreciate all the help for ITD. All this while we had been sideline. For your infomation we have more than 6500 students and 550 staff. In Nilai there is 3000 students and half of the staff. The population is not small.

Well hopefully with the establishment of the IIUM email and the wireless project for the students, more potential students will join us and Insya Allah this will bring IIUM to the next level.

May Allah bless you in this holy month of ramadan.
