KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 28 (Bernama) — Actor Datuk Ahmad Mahmud, who was best known for his role as Dr Ismadi in a classic Malay movie, “Ibu Mertuaku“, died of kidney failure Wednesday night. He was 85. His daughter, Rogayah said her father breathed his last at his residence in Kampung Tunku, Petaling Jaya at 10pm.
The actor who had been suffering from kidney ailments since seven years ago was admitted to the Pantai Medical Centre on July 22 and was discharged 10 days ago, she told Bernama when contacted.
He is survived by his wife, Datin Hadijah Mohamad, three children and nine grandchildren.
Ahmad Mahmud who was born in Seremban launched his acting career in the Ampas Studio in Singapore in 1951 through a movie entitled “Matahari”.
The actor will be buried at the Bukit Kiara Muslim Cemetery here after midday prayer, Thursday.
